Why Theatre?

What actors know is that we can perform consciously.

They work to expand their range of behaviors - physically, emotionally, psychologically, stylistically

They think about their characters' objectives and how best to achieve them.

They consider what they need to do to serve the greater play.

By viewing our interactions through this lens, business professionals can:

  • Enhance presentation skills
  • Adapt their communication style to different situations and individuals
  • Become more comfortable taking risks.
  • Create more collaboratively
  • Act more effectively as part of a larger whole.

In his acclaimed book, A Whole New Mind, Daniel Pink says,

"What's in greatest demand today isn't analysis but synthesis--seeing the big picture, crossing boundaries, and being able to combine disparate pieces into an arresting new whole."

To business professionals, this might, indeed, seem like developing a "whole new mind."  To theatre artists, is a foundational skill.

"Kat is amazing. She knows how to work a room like no one else. She works well with all personality types and unites them."

"Working with Kat is a creative adventure. She draws the best out of people. She develops a level of trust that allows people to open up."

"Kat is intelligent, quick and wicked fun. She is one of the best and brightest in training and improv."

Why Improv?

Improvisers are a special breed of performer. They make up scenes, songs, stories, and plays on-the-spot, collaboratively, with no script or pre-planning.

In order to succeed at this daunting task, they have developed philosophies and techniques that can be applied to any environment in which humans interact. Face it, we improvise all the time. Who wakes up to find a script for the day waiting on the bedside table?

As the world moves faster and becomes less and less predictable, good improv skills become a necessity.

And Storytelling?

Story IS meaning. Stories are the dynamic, robust way in which human beings communicate. It is through stories that individuals learn, and cultures are created. It is through story that we inspire others, learn from our experiences, and envision the future. Through the practices of sharing, crafting and soliciting stories, our clients enhance their productivity, goal-alignment and motivation.
